SOCIAL STUDIES

This is the page is where you will see their progress in SOCIAL STUDIES. We will most likely start off with doing lapbooks, (folders showing what they have learned about a specific subject), on Current Events. We watch a lot of PBS, and I will probably have them watch the PBS NEWS Hour and do a report for daddy and I on a current event. I will also have them study other cultures. We will pick a geographical area, study their culture, and have a special night where we decoate the diningroom and fix a meal from that culture, using a muticultural cookbook, in addition to doing a lapbook on that culture. I have a craft book, The Kids' Multicultural Art Book, that has crafts to do on different culures. We will include a craft from that book, that may be their art project for that week, which may also be part of the decoration for that weeks cultural night.
